Abstract:
Background: The quality of life (QoL) for children with ASD has emerged as an
important area of research, as it encompasses multiple dimensions such as physical,
emotional, social, and educational well-being. ASD is a developmental disorder
characterized by social communication deficits, repetitive behaviors, and restricted
interests. This research aims to fill this gap by assessing the various dimensions of QoL,
including physical health, emotional well-being, social relationships, and school
functioning.
Aims: To measure the quality of life of Children with autism in Dhaka district.
Methodology: The study was conducted using cross-sectional quantitative study
design through a face-to-face survey among 99 participants who are parents of children
with ASD. The age range of the children was 8-12 years. A pediatric quality-of-life
inventory scale was used to measure the quality of life of children with ASD in the
Dhaka district. Descriptive analysis was used by using SPSS-25 to analyze the data.
Results: Children with ASD reported better quality of life in terms of their physical
functioning, 82.80%. However, children may face some difficulties in school
functioning, 72.70%, such as concentration, keeping up with academic demands, or
adapting to the school environment. Children with ASD face challenges in social
interactions or relationships with peers, 20.20%, and emotional difficulties, 21.20%, .
Conclusion: This study revealed that children with ASD experienced lower
psychosocial health. Physical function is 82.8%, emotional function is 21.2%, social
function is 20.2%, and school function is 72.7%. Quality of life of children with autism
in Dhaka district 49.2%
