dc.description.abstract Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the level of depression, anxiety and their association with functional outcome among amputee patients. Objectives: To identify the level of depression and anxiety among amputee patients. To explore the Socio-demographic information of the participants. To discover the functional outcome. To find out association of various socio-demographic characteristics with depression and anxiety after amputation. Methodology: The study was conducted by using cross sectional method. Total 82 samples were selected conveniently for this study from Prosthetics and Orthotics unit of Physiotherapy Department, CRP, Savar. All data were collected through face-to face interview by using a semi-structured research question technique. Results: Among 82 participants 6.1% of the participants had moderately severe and 2.4% had severe depression and 18.3% of the respondents had minimum and moderate depression and 54.9% had mild depression. Among 82 participants, 61% had minimal anxiety, 32.9% had mild anxiety, 4.9% had moderate anxiety and 1.2% had severe anxiety. Functional outcome was measured by Modified Barthel Index (SHAH VERSION) indicates that among 82 participants, 41.5% were independence in doing day to day task, 32.9% were slight dependence, 23.2% were moderate dependence ,2.4% were severe dependence in doing day to day task and there were no participant who was total dependence.. Conclusion: The results of the study suggest that depression, anxiety and functional outcome are commonly experienced after amputation. The amputee group should have access to the amputee care program which will provide psychiatric care alongside rehabilitation. Key words: Amputation, Depression, Anxiety, Functional outcome. en_US
