Associated Risk Factors of Low Back Pain among Orthopedic Surgeons: a cross – sectional study.

Abstract

Purpose: To find out the associated risk factors of low back pain among orthopedic surgeons. Objective: To find out socio demographic characteristics, to know the health related information, to find out professional factors related information, to determine the pain related information, to determine association related variable. Methodology: A cross sectional study design was chosen to achieve the objective of the study, with a structured and closed ended interviewer administered questionnaire to collect information from orthopedic surgeon with low back pain in respects through purposive sampling technique. Data will be numerically coded and captured in Microsoft excel, using an SPSS version software program. Result: The aim of the study was to find out associated risk factors of low back pain among orthopedic surgeons. A various factor related to socio demography, health related factor, professional factor and pain related factors explored the reason of low back pain among orthopedic surgeons. In this study found that less than 40 years of age of the Orthopedic surgeons are more suffered from Low back pain compared to 41 to 50 years age and more than 50 years of age because of enormous daily working hours, prolong standing during working, long time stayed in awkward position and did more surgery from others age group. In this study, Professor among orthopedic surgeons were suffered more from LBP from consultant for the job experience and surgery experience but this study showed that young age <40 years more suffered from LBP. Conclusion: One of the most common forms of occupational injury is LBP, which is found to occur nearly twice as frequently in the healthcare industry as in other occupations. Orthopedic surgeons have low back pain for their daily working hours, surgery, awkward position, movement repetition, BMI, lack of physical activity, smoking. Among orthopedic surgeons low back pain for common for their job experience and health related factors. Key words: Pain, Low back pain, Orthopedic surgeon, Risk factors
