dc.description.abstract Background: Psychological well-being and life satisfaction are key indicators of quality of life, particularly for individuals with physical disabilities who frequently encounter stigma, limited accessibility, and emotional challenges. Participation in adaptive or competitive sports has been associated with enhanced autonomy, self-esteem, and social inclusion. Although such benefits are globally recognized, research in the Bangladeshi context remains limited. Aim: This study aimed to find out the level of life satisfaction and Psychological Well being among the athletes with physical disabilities. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 72 athletes aged 15 –50 years, selected purposively from the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), Savar, and community sports groups. Data was collected using the 42-item Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Descriptive and inferential analyses, including t-test, chi-square test, and ANOVA, correlation were performed using SPSS (26). Ethical clearance was obtained from the BHPI Institutional Review Board. Results: Participants demonstrated moderate to high psychological well-being (mean = 4.15 ± 0.67). “Purpose in Life” showed the highest mean score (4.53 ± 0.61), followed by “Autonomy” and “Positive Relations with Others.” More than half (56.9%) reported good life satisfaction. Higher levels of sports participation, especially at the international level, were significantly associated with greater life satisfaction, suggesting that increased engagement in sports contribute positively to both well-being and satisfaction. Conclusion: Adaptive sports participation plays a significant role in enhancing psychological well-being and life satisfaction among athletes with physical disabilities in Bangladesh. Expanding inclusive and accessible sports programs can serve as an effective psychosocial strategy to improve quality of life and promote empowerment among persons with disabilities.
