Executive Summary
Title: “Phonological process of 4-5 years old typically developing Bangla speaking
children”.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the patterns of phonological process of 4-5
years old typically developing Bangla speaking children.
Method: Considering the aim and objectives of the study investigator used cross sectional
design. The sample for this study was selected by using purposive sampling method. Data
was collected by “phonological process checklist” that was developed by the investigator.
Data was collected from different schools at Savar Upazilla where 51 typically (4-5 years)
developing Bangla speaking children were participated. Data was analyzed using descriptive
statistical analysis method using SPSS software.
Result: Investigator found that 13 phonological processes are seen within 4-5 years old
typically developing Bangla speaking children. These processes are initial cluster reduction,
medial cluster reduction, final cluster reduction, weak syllable deletion, final consonant
deletion, velar fronting, alveolar fronting, stopping fricative, backing, depalatalization,
gliding of liquids, consonant assimilation and insertion schwa between cluster two
consonants.
Conclusion: Phonological process of Bangla speaking children is different than other
country at the age of 4-5 years. This study will be helpful for clinical speech and language
therapist for setting goal and identify the patterns of phonological process of Bangla
speaking children. |
