Abstract:
Purpose: The present study was conducted to analyze and identify the therapeutic effectiveness of the Adhesive ZnO2 Taping, given along with Conventional Physiotherapy for the treatment of Plantar Fasciitis. This study has made the comparison, in order to discover the most effective treatment to alleviate the symptoms of the condition. Objectives: To assess the effect on pain after introducing Adhesive ZnO2 Taping for Plantar Fasciitis, to measure the severity of pain by using Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), to identify the distribution of pain, to explore the socio-demography of the participants, to investigate the effect on reducing discomfort and pain related symptoms after introducing Adhesive ZnO2 Taping. Methodology: The study was an experimental design. Total 14 samples were selected conveniently then randomly assigned to two different groups for this study from outpatient treatment service of Musculoskeletal Unit, Physiotherapy Department, Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), Savar, Dhaka. Initially all the subjects were assessed by Musculoskeletal Peripheral Assessment Form at the clinical settings using the Windlass Test and then the data were collected by questionnaires; Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) was used to assess pain intensity of the patients. Experimental Group received combination therapy of Adhesive ZnO2 Taping with Conventional Physiotherapy while Control Group received Conventional Physiotherapy only. Result: The finding of the study was carried out by using non-parametric MannWhitney U test to compare the Experimental and Control Group and analysed by interpreting the probability level of significance of U value. The results were found to be significant for U value at probability level 0.05. Conclusion: The study concluded as the adhesive ZnO2 taping is significantly capable of producing beneficial effects on pain reduction, pain related symptoms minimization in patients with Plantar Fasciitis.
