Perception of Stroke Patient's Carer About Occupational Thrapy Service at CRP

Abstract

Aim: To explore the stroke patient carer perception towards Occupational Therapy service after receiving Therapy Intervention. Objectives: To explore stroke patients carers awareness about stroke, to explore the understanding about OT intervention, to explore the carers expectations and needs from therapy service and to know the carers understanding about the needs of Occupational therapy service for stroke patient treatment. Design and Method: The study was conducted by using of Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA). Six participants were selected from nine by the purposive sampling process from the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP), Savar at Occupational Therapy outpatient Unit. All data were collected through face-to face interview by using a semi-structured research questionnaire. The entire interviews were recorded by the audio recorder and transcribed the interview in Bangla. Finally, Bangla data were translated into English and then the researcher coding, categories and themes were made from the participants answer. Finding: From the result of this study, it is found that the stroke patient's Carer had no enough idea about the Occupational therapy service and majority of them perceived that Occupational therapy works for hand function. They are also perceived that therapeutic treatment is also important and most appropriate intervention technique for the stroke patient progress. Conclusion: Most of the participants not had so many concepts about Occupational therapy service into a short duration of intervention. Before coming here they did not have any concept about Occupational therapy service after passing sometimes they get a little more concept or idea about Occupational therapy service.
